Time To Vote

It’s that time of year when Americans can participate in democracy and get out and vote. No matter who you choose in this contentious time, be sure to exercise your right to vote on November 8th.

Now to another vote… It looks like I am again a nominee for the British Craft Awards. So, for all my stitchy friends… It’s time to vote . I am happy to add that Polstitches Designs is also a nominee so just click here to choose your favorites.

Switching Seasons…

I know that a lot of stitchers are thinking of projects for Christmas so I now have two new designs out to get you started stitching for the holidays.

First in Cross Stitch Gold Issue 132, on news stands now, A Visit from Santa. I’ve pictured the design on Polstitches Designs beautiful hand dyed ‘snow cap’ 28 count Jobelan. His bag is filled with all sorts of Christmas goodies and the design sparkles with Kreinik metallic threads and Mill Hill seed beads, making him very festive indeed!

Just hitting the stands in the UK today is my latest Christmas Victorian Lady. She is out for a snowy stroll in her holiday frock and her lush warm furs and looking pretty as a picture. You will find her in Issue 222 of Cross Stitch Crazy. Stitched on the palest blue fabric, the shimmering beads in her dress and hat reflect the twinkle of snowflakes all around her.

Back Home Again…

Hi Everyone!

I am back in the studio after our wonderful trip to Cardiff. The retreat on September 17th was perfect. How lovely to meet so many of you that I have known over the years through this blog and our Facebook group. We all had a lot of fun and plans are already being made for another event in 2018, so stay tuned! I send a million thanks to all of you for being there and to my dear friend Jo Critchley of Polstitches Designs for making it all happen. Thanks go also to Ceri James and Marie for their kindness and help.

As you know, I created a special design for this retreat titled ‘The Maiden & The Dragon’. She will be out and about next week but for now you can order from Jo at Polstitches Designs

After the retreat, Earl and I stayed on to explore the magic of Wales. Before leaving I had searched for day tours leaving from Cardiff. I was so fortunate to find the best of the best Real Wales Tours. Our host Nia was amazing. I recommend her tours to anyone that wants to go off the beaten path, share the history of the country, and take in some of the most beautiful landscapes we have ever seen.Thank you Nia for such a fabulous experience!

Now I am sure that Fairies live here. So much inspiration! I feel some new designs coming on…

Off to Cardiff!

I can’t believe how fast the days have gone by! On Saturday, September 17th I will be in Cardiff, Wales at Polstitches Designs 2016 Retreat. I can’t wait to see old friends and meet new ones for a day of stitching fun. With preparation for the trip and some days tacked on for a holiday in Wales, the studio will be closed as of this afternoon until September 27th. If you are placing an order through my Order Chartpacks page or emailing a wholesale order, I will tend to it when I return.

There is  a special design that I created especially for this retreat. Stay tuned  when I return. It will be available to all at the end of September. Until then… Love to all!

Back Home

Hello my dear friends. My surgery last Wednesday was a success. I am home from the hospital with lots of meds and doing well. No more spasms so far!

I don’t think I will be able to look at emails for a few more days as my vision is quite blurred but I will get there eventually. I have a lovely fat four inch scar down the left side of my head behind my ear. It will be perfect for Halloween. I can feel my hair growing back already though, so that is good.

I just wanted to express all my appreciation for the wonderful doctors and nurses at New York Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan. I couldn’t have been taken care of at a better place. The amazing neurosurgeon Dr. Phillip Stieg did microsurgery inside my skull to lift the blood vessel that had been pressing on my facial nerve for so many years.

So for now it is rest, rest, and more rest. I am able to walk around, shower, dress and such but not allowed much else. I expect to start getting bored by next week, lol.

Thank you all again for the outpourings of prayers and healing thoughts. It’s been a long strange trip this past year for me and your love and kindness has meant more to me than I could ever express in words. I’m looking forward to getting back to normal.

with all my love

Joan

On Hold for a While

Hi Friends-

I just wanted to let you know that orders will be on hold starting today. If you have ordered a chart pack before today, it is on its way to you.

I will be having surgery next Wednesday for a facial nerve spasm. Rather than continue with the injections I have been receiving for quite a few years, I have decided to go for a more permanent solution.

I am taking the rest of this week to tidy up all of my pending designs and especially to finish up the design for our September retreat with Polstitches Designs in Cardiff Wales this coming September 17th. I will post a sneak peak as soon as it is ready.

The doctor tells me that I will need to rest completely for at least 4 weeks after surgery. I am hoping to be back to filling orders towards the end of July. As you all know, after last year’s events I am pretty sick of taking my time off for healing, LOL! May this be the last time.

Please be sure to use the wonderful shops that sell my designs while I am away. They are listed in my Links and Resources.

I will be in touch and let you know how it goes. Thanks again for all your wonderful support.

Love- Joan

The 2016 summer issue of Cross-Stitch & Needlework magazine features my new “Children By the Seaside” design. Working on this brought back great a memories of the fun days my sister, brother, and I would spend out at Jones Beach on Long Island, NY. Stitch up some summer fun!

This issue goes on sale in shops on May 17. You can also subscribe by clicking here.
