Back to Work

Just a quick hello to let you know that I am back to work. We had a wonderful time at the Polstitches Retreat in Cardiff, Wales and our trip to the Lake District. I can’t believe that I was actually able to visit “Mr. McGregor’s Garden” while touring the Beatrix Potter house. What fun! The scenery and beauty of the whole area is amazing and despite all the rainy days, Earl and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We look forward to returning soon.

I am so pleased that the new design, “Tiny Dancer”, was well loved by all the stitchers at the retreat and will be available worldwide in October. It was a joy to visit with  everyone. Thanks to all for attending and thanks to Jo Critchley for all the preparation and hard work.

So we have an exciting update to share that some of you are aware of from the recent retreat. Polstitches Designs is now a official distributor of Joan Elliott Designs. As such, Polstitches Designs has changed the website to offer color charts and b/w charts of all designs. This also means that if you want your local shop or favorite internet shop anywhere in the world to stock my designs you can now give them Polstitches Designs contact info and Jo will be able to ship to them directly. One of the reasons for this is that we want to support all retail shops even those little ones down the street to help to survive! With this new arrangement I will now have more time free for designing and will be releasing more never seen brand new designs on a regular bi-monthly basis. You will be able to view the next release around mid-November. Please spread the news as we are looking not only for local shops but online shops and shops in other countries where my designs are not currently available. Let’s share the love!

A Little Fun Christmas Stitching

New for Christmas

I know that we have just finished Halloween celebrations, but what better time to start on some new Christmas stitches! Both the Angel and Snowman ornaments are a quick and easy stitch done on plastic canvas, perforated paper, or Aida, all 14 count. If you prefer stitching on Aida or 28 count Evenweave, you can back your stitching with a heavy weight iron on interfacing and cut the shapes out. The interfacing will keep your fabric from fraying. Alternatively you can make up little individual pillow ornaments. Whichever way you decide to finish these bright, cheerful ornaments, just add a bit of string or ribbon at top and they will be ready to hang on your tree.

The Nativity scene reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas. Stitch it up as a framed picture or door hanger to bring the serenity and peace of the Christmas season to your home.

With blizzard warnings in the northeastern US tomorrow, I invite you on a walk through springtime in beautiful Rome. JE232©Bella Roma is a brand new chartpack now up on my Order Chartpacks page and ready to ship. She will be available at all of your favorite online stores soon, so keep an eye out and turn your thoughts to warm breezes, fragrant flowers, and lots of beautiful stitching.

Switching Seasons…

I know that a lot of stitchers are thinking of projects for Christmas so I now have two new designs out to get you started stitching for the holidays.

First in Cross Stitch Gold Issue 132, on news stands now, A Visit from Santa. I’ve pictured the design on Polstitches Designs beautiful hand dyed ‘snow cap’ 28 count Jobelan. His bag is filled with all sorts of Christmas goodies and the design sparkles with Kreinik metallic threads and Mill Hill seed beads, making him very festive indeed!

Just hitting the stands in the UK today is my latest Christmas Victorian Lady. She is out for a snowy stroll in her holiday frock and her lush warm furs and looking pretty as a picture. You will find her in Issue 222 of Cross Stitch Crazy. Stitched on the palest blue fabric, the shimmering beads in her dress and hat reflect the twinkle of snowflakes all around her.

Back Home Again…

Hi Everyone!

I am back in the studio after our wonderful trip to Cardiff. The retreat on September 17th was perfect. How lovely to meet so many of you that I have known over the years through this blog and our Facebook group. We all had a lot of fun and plans are already being made for another event in 2018, so stay tuned! I send a million thanks to all of you for being there and to my dear friend Jo Critchley of Polstitches Designs for making it all happen. Thanks go also to Ceri James and Marie for their kindness and help.

As you know, I created a special design for this retreat titled ‘The Maiden & The Dragon’. She will be out and about next week but for now you can order from Jo at Polstitches Designs

After the retreat, Earl and I stayed on to explore the magic of Wales. Before leaving I had searched for day tours leaving from Cardiff. I was so fortunate to find the best of the best Real Wales Tours. Our host Nia was amazing. I recommend her tours to anyone that wants to go off the beaten path, share the history of the country, and take in some of the most beautiful landscapes we have ever seen.Thank you Nia for such a fabulous experience!

Now I am sure that Fairies live here. So much inspiration! I feel some new designs coming on…
