    Hi Joan,
My friend just told me about your site. I have just recently discovered your work and must tell you….I love it! Beautiful, no…GORGEOUS work! I saw one of your kits listed in the Summer Preview 2008, entitled Inspired By The Elegance. They only sell this as a kit. I am only interested in the pattern.
DO YOU SELL THE PATTERNS SEPARATELY? If so, please direct me so I can purchase this beautiful woman. I must stitch her!!
My friend also informed me that you do quite a few of these beauties. Is there a particular magazine, website, or other location that I can purchase the patterns?
I live in Oregon. We have very few stitch shops and I have yet to see one of your patterns or kits in the few that we have.
Thank you for producing such beautiful works of art so people like me can stitch them and grace our walls with your gorgeous talent.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
    Bobbie Henderson

I also live in Oregon and all our LNS have disappeared from my area. I have to do most all my shopping online. A couple of craft or fabric stores carry the DMC floss….but the patterns, just aren’t available locally. Love your patterns…….so cute!!

I love your Indian Maiden and Brave, but cannot find the jobelan 28 ct. “Earth” fabric anywhere online. It’s not even listed on the website of the manufacturer, Polstitches Designs. How can I find it or find a good substitute?

The fabric is available from Polstitches. Scroll down on her second page of fabrics and you will see it at bottom.

Hi, I am looking for your material Santas or Christams that Joann Fabric carried last year. I am working on a project and as fate would have it I am a little short. I have tried several sites and cannot find the material. Would you have any suggestions as to where I might be able to locate this material? Thank you for taking the time to help.

I am just finishing a project and plan to do all the Goddesses. I am from Texas and craft stores carrying cross stitch supplies is extremely limited where I live.

Is there anywhere in the United States where I can find the fabric or a substitute.

Just need to say that I am a huge fan of your work, my daughter Erin and I can go into a craft store and look at kits and spot your designs without seeing your name first.

    Hello Joan,
I just wanted to tell you that I got the book A Woman’s World in Cross Stitch and I have been looking for the pattern the Sea Goddess. Well now that I have the book, I can’t wait to get started on her!! I have a few of your other books and I love your work, please continue to keep them coming!! 🙂

      Jan 04, 2011 @ 22:59:41

      Thank you Lisa-

I know you’ll enjoy working on the Sea Goddess. She and the Woodland Fairy, in the same book, were the ones that sparked the idea for my book Bewitching Cross Stitch and then from there all the Fairies and Goddesses I’ve been designing in the past few years. I feel truly blessed to be able to work on all of these and to be able to bring them to everyone! Many more to come in 2011!

    Dear Joan,

I love your chic and sophisticated lady series in Cross Stitch Gold magazine. I want to reproduce the London and New York ladies as they were pictured in the magazine. It says that these designs were stitched on 28-count cream evenweave. I’ve looked on all the websites listed in the US stocklist section and I didn’t see that any of them had evenweave in cream. I think antique white will be too light and beige will be too dark. Where did you get the supplies for these projects? I’d like to find the exact color or a very close match. Thank you for your help! Please keep your wonderful designs coming.

I sell the Earth Goddess as a chartpack. She is also available from the sources you see on the sidebar. Picture Perfect Needlecraft is in Australia so that may be best for you.

Sorry Debbie. The one I saw on ebay has been sold. I may have the pattern buried deep in my closet somewhere but it is not on my computer so I can’t make up the chartpack for you. Let me see what I can find.

      Hi Catherine-
Christmas Chores was originally in one of the British magazines quite some time ago. I’m afraid I do not remember which issue though. It has never been in a book. I do have it available as a chart pack.

      Hi Carroll-

I can make a chart pack of the Assisi design. It would be $12 plus $4 shipping and I would need to know if you prefer the chart in black & white or color.

Hello Joan, I have ordered the “I Love You to the Moon and Back” and cannot wait to receive it to start stitching…we live 30 min from the nearest craft store and so trips to town are combined. Is there a list somewhere of what DMC floss and what size fabric is suggested so I can pick them up the next trip to be ready for it’s arrival? Thank you! Valerie

Hi Joan, I love to do a cross stitching and recently found out that I’m about to be a grandma for the first time. I would love to make my new granddaughter (coming in February) one of your teddy bear designs and have been looking for Teddies on a Line. Please help me locate either the chart or the kit. I have tried ebay with no luck thank you and keep coming up with your great ideas. (especially teddy bears)

Hi. I’m currently cross-stitching the Snow Ice Fairy as featured in Cross Stitch Gold and all was going well but I think there may be an error on the conversion chart as DMC646 listed as Ash Grey is converted to 8581 which i’ve got as a green/grey colour. Can you please tell me if this is a print error or if there is mistake on my part? Many thanks in advance. Love the design, going really well.

    • joanelliott
      Nov 24, 2015 @ 19:55:05

      Hi Debbie-
I’m afraid I do not have copy of the magazine but I have been looking at the colors on my anchor color card. While most conversion charts seem to recommend using 8581, I do agree that it is a bit greenish grey. I would use Anchor815 instead. Just to make sure that and colors around it will work for DMC646 use Anchor399 and for DMC644 use Anchor397

      Hope that helps
      X Joan

Hi! I purchased you #5414 Santa and Friends Stocking and was wondering if I can purchase the floss. Unfortunately all my thread was mixed up with another kit (dog situation) and I can’t make heads or tails…I’m nearly 80% done with the kit 😦

Hi Joan, I am working on a stocking kit (Santa’s Helper) that includes gold beada. I’m a bit intimidated by it. Should I use a larger needle with this floss as I’m having difficulty threading it? Also does this floss remain tight as I stitch or does it stretch? Thanks for your input.

    • joanelliott
      Nov 13, 2017 @ 13:24:12

      Hi Lisa-
Is there a number on the kit and the name of the manufacturer please. I am not sure which one you mean.

      • Lisa
        Nov 13, 2017 @ 14:48:10

It’s kit no. 87002 from Good Shepherd. It’s an old kit…shows a copyright date of 1990. I’m embarrassed to admit that I bought this when my child was young and just never got around to stitching it until now.

  38. joanelliott
    Nov 13, 2017 @ 15:56:58

    Hi Lisa-
WOW! that is really going back in the archives, LOL! I barely remember the designs. If you are asking about the gold threads then yes, do try a larger needle. I am sure they are using two srands of gold DMC. You could also try getting a spool of Kreinik Very Fine #4 Braid color 028 which I prefer over DMC. This thread does lay better in your stitching although I do not think that the DMC gold would stretch. If you are attaching gold beads then use only 1 strand of thread to attach them and use the smaller needle as a larger one may not fit through the beads. Don’t use the metallic thread to attach the beads, rather use a gold thread like DMC 729 using only 1 strand.
Hope that all makes sense 🙂
