Give Thanks for All Things

JE296 © Give Thanks for All Things

I love Autumn! The crisp sunny days, changing leaves in brilliant hues and all the little forest critters preparing for the coming colder weather. It has always seemed the perfect time for reflection and gratitude for the things we hold close to our hearts.

This Sampler celebrates the gifts of family and friends, for the support, comfort, and love they give in times of need and the joy they bring into our lives, and for our precious earth and the bounty it provides. Whether it is Thanksgiving time here in the US or any other time of year, let’s give thanks for all things great and small.

4 New Chartpacks

I am happy to have four new chartpacks ready next week. The Jewel Box is a delightful treasure stitched in gemstone colors and highlighted with sparkling Mill Hill beads and Kreinik threads. The Puppet Theater was inspired by a marionette craftsman that I met while traveling in Canada and is ready to delight with its whimsical characters and happy colors. Father Sun is now available in chartpack form. I’ve had so many requests for this it seemed the perfect time to let him shine in all his glory. Autumn Splendor, shimmering with rich colors of Mill Hill beads and Kreinik threads, is ready to stitch for autumn as leaves fall and seasons change. All of these designs will be available in your favorite online shops including 123stitch and Polstitches Designs .

A New Design for the New Year

JE287 A Year of Silhouettes Chartpack

                                    JE287 A Year of Silhouettes $16

My newest design JE287 A Year of Silhouettes is ready to ship! Now we can celebrate with these charming vignettes designed for each month of the year. Stitch the entire sampler or pick and choose your favorite month and stitch up little gifts or cards for those special occasions throughout the year. The Stitch Count is 178w X 306h. When completed, A Year of Silhouettes measures 13w X 22h inches (33w X 56h cm) on 14 count Aida or 28 count Evenweave. Stitch Count is 178w X 306h. Stitched all in one color, this design requires 14 skeins of DMC black 6 strand embroidery floss. I have pictured this on Polstitches Designs 28 count ‘tudor rose©’ Linen There is a little silhouette to celebrate each of the 12 months : January’s twilight ice skaters, February’s Valentine’s love birds, a windy day of kite flying in March, a few April showers with a pair of Easter bunnies safely tucked beneath an umbrella, a garden filled with sweet May flowers, a nimble little June rose bud fairy, sailing along the coast in July, a day on the beach building sand castles in August, in September it’s back to school, a spooky October Halloween, a bountiful November harvest basket, and fun in the snow for December.

JE261 © Fairy of the Rain

I am so happy to announce my newest design release JE261 © Fairy of the Rain. This is the second in a series of four Aerial Fairies, sister to my last release, JE252 © Fairy of the Wind. She is highlighted with sparkling Kreinik threads in silver, grey and blue and shimmering Mill Hill beads that evoke tiny raindrops and glistening dew. Featured on Polstitches Designs ‘Storminess©’ hand dyed 28 count Lugana, she is a gentle vision of the early spring rain bringing grace and hope to the new season. Fairy of the Rain is now available from all of the online and brick and mortar stores that carry my designs. Enjoy!

Fairy of the Wind

Coming Friday November 23, 2018, JE252 Fairy of the Wind. This is the first design in a new series of fairies I am working on for 2019. Stay tuned …Wind Preview

A Little Christmas Sticthing

I’ve just finished up two Christmas chartpacks for some fun holiday stitching. My Jingle Bells Christmas Library has 35 motifs that can be used to make up some quick cards and gifts. Santas, snowmen, baubles, and elves galore to give to friends and family or to stitch up some new ornaments for your own tree. The collection is shown on Polstitches Designs “heirloom©” 28 count Lugana. Brilliant Kreinik metallic thread and delicate Mill Hill Petite Beads add a  cheerful touch of bling.

One of my fondest Christmas memories is going to see The Nutcracker Ballet here in New York. I can still hear Tchaikovsky’s enchanting suite playing and the Sugarplum Fairy gliding across the stage as if floating on air. My Nutcracker sampler features the main characters of the ballet from darling Clara to the Nutcracker Prince. Each character can also be made up separately as a lovely ornament when stitched either on the fabric of your choice or on 14 count plastic canvas. I’ve shown the sampler on Polstitches Designs 28 count “dusk©” Lugana with sparkling Kreinik threads and festive Mill Hill beads to add to the holiday spirit.

Back to Work

Just a quick hello to let you know that I am back to work. We had a wonderful time at the Polstitches Retreat in Cardiff, Wales and our trip to the Lake District. I can’t believe that I was actually able to visit “Mr. McGregor’s Garden” while touring the Beatrix Potter house. What fun! The scenery and beauty of the whole area is amazing and despite all the rainy days, Earl and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We look forward to returning soon.

I am so pleased that the new design, “Tiny Dancer”, was well loved by all the stitchers at the retreat and will be available worldwide in October. It was a joy to visit with  everyone. Thanks to all for attending and thanks to Jo Critchley for all the preparation and hard work.

So we have an exciting update to share that some of you are aware of from the recent retreat. Polstitches Designs is now a official distributor of Joan Elliott Designs. As such, Polstitches Designs has changed the website to offer color charts and b/w charts of all designs. This also means that if you want your local shop or favorite internet shop anywhere in the world to stock my designs you can now give them Polstitches Designs contact info and Jo will be able to ship to them directly. One of the reasons for this is that we want to support all retail shops even those little ones down the street to help to survive! With this new arrangement I will now have more time free for designing and will be releasing more never seen brand new designs on a regular bi-monthly basis. You will be able to view the next release around mid-November. Please spread the news as we are looking not only for local shops but online shops and shops in other countries where my designs are not currently available. Let’s share the love!

Taking a Little Break

Just a quick note to let you all know I will be away from my desk and attending the retreat with Polstitches Designs in Cardiff September 15 & 16 and afterwards a little break to rejuvenate my creative spirit and hopefully get to play with my watercolors. So… officially I am on a break from the studio after this Friday, September 7th, so I can get work tidied up and start thinking about what to bring on my trip, until Tuesday September 25th. You can still place any orders through your favorite online shops while I am away. I’ll be checking in with Facebook on and off while I am away but I won’t be taking any emails until I return.

Tiny Dancer

The retreat in Cardiff will feature a new design titled “Tiny Dancer”. Having created this especially for the retreat, she is now only available for pre-order exclusively through Jo Critchley at Polstitches Designs. You can go to the Polstitches Designs Facebook Page to place your pre-order.

On another note, I am happy to announce that Lakeside Needlecrafts is now carrying my chartpacks in addition to offering my exclusive Peace on Earth Christmas Angel SAL. There is still time to join in.

SAL

Finally, 123stitch is now stocking my design JE248 The Embroideress, and, as always, they carry a full line of my chartpacks.

LITTLE EMB

I’m looking forward to the retreat in Cardiff, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. It should be lots of fun. Jo has promised to bring her selfie stick which I think we all find a bit terrifying, LOL!

Angel Quilt panel

A Year of Angels Quilt Panel © Joan A. Elliott for Polstitches Designs
available from http://www.polstitchesdesigns.co.uk

I am so excited to tell you that I have teamed up with Jo Critchley at Polstitches Designs to create this beautiful printed quilt panel based on my cross stitch design “A Year of Angels”. My thanks to Jo for coordinating the project and finding the best fabric and printing techniques to create this panel.

The design is printed on 100% Cotton Calico and is priced at £16.99 (about $22US). The size of the printed panel is 59.5cm w x 79cm h (2.5cm white border)  23.6 in w x 31.1 in h (.75 in white border). Polstitches does ship internationally too. You can go directly to Polstitches Designs website to order : http://www.polstitchesdesigns.co.uk

I added borders from some fabric samples I designed years ago so when you make up the final quilt you will be choosing fabric patterns and colors to your liking and adding them as you see fit. It would be fun to pick up any number of colors from the printed panel in your borders. Your finished quilt will be unique to you, so let you creativity soar! The best news is that there are more to come, so stay tuned.

THE LAST WEEKEND IN APRIL

This year we will meet on Saturday, April 30th and Sunday, May 1st. For the details of this retreat please click here

I will be presenting a special new design in celebration of our gathering.

I am really looking forward to both of these events and I do hope you will be able to join us.
