New for the New Year!

Winter Geisha

Another year seems to have flown by. It’s hard to believe that we are diving into 2020 already, a new decade! To start off the new year I am happy to bring you my latest design, Winter Geisha. Stitchers have been asking me for a winter geisha for years and the time and inspiration seemed right to finally work on her. She is pictured on Polstitches Designs ‘snowy mountains©’ 28 count Lugana. To add that special twinkle of a twilight snow I have added beautiful, shimmering Mill Hill seed and petite beads and extra touches of delicate, light catching Kreinik threads. I pictured her walking through the hush of a silent snow while tiny white bunnies scurry to see their winter visitor. She will be ready for shipping on January 3rd and will be available at all of the usual shops and online outlets.

Wishing you all the best that this new year can bring, with love and thanks for all of your friendship and wonderful support this past year and always- X Joan

Stitched “Fairy of the Rainbow”

Thank you Willy J Maes for the beautiful stitching of my Fairy of the Rainbow (JE267). Willy is the most amazing stitcher and I am always thrilled to watch my designs come to life in her incredibly talented hands. Thanks to Jo Critchley of Polstitches Designs for her beautiful hand dyed fabric (Raindrops© 32ct murano/lugana), to Doug Kreinik and Dena Ramsey Lenham at Kreinik for their exquisite metallic threads, and to Amy Wichelt and the folks at Mill Hill for their delicate sparkling beads.

A Little Blue Delft and a Lot of Christmas

Blog JE270 © Blue Delft Assortment

I’ve had a lot of requests for my blue delft designs and have put together a chartpack of sweet, easy to stitch designs for all the blue delft fans out there. You can make any of these into darling cards, coasters, or small tokens of friendship, or stitch all four of the main tiles together for a lovely framed picture. The chart for the little wedding sampler includes a full alphabet so you can stitch up a lovely gift for a wedding or anniversary celebration.

BlogJE269 © Christmas Blue Ornaments

Continuing with the wonderful tradition of blue and white design, I am reminded of December days when the winter landscape of Vermont shimmers with rivers of deep blue and meadows and hills cloaked in snowy white. These motifs include glistening beads like diamonds of sunlight reflected on the snow. Enjoy these nine blue and white Christmas designs as ornaments or cards or stitch them on small gift bags or coasters. Stitched together they will also make a lovely framed picture for the holidays.

Blog JE268 © Santa's Gifts

I love the idea of Santa surround by his winter friends. All decked out in his most elegant Christmas robes, he carries a bagful of goodies ready to deliver. His companions wear their coats of winter white, ready to accompany him through the snow on his Christmas Eve journey. Beautiful Mill Hill beads and sparkling Kreinik threads make this an elegant stitch. I have this design pictured on Polstitches Designs 28 count ‘silver lining’© Lugana, perfect for a snowy winter background.

All of my chartpacks are available from online shops and various brick & mortar stores here in the States and across the globe including Australia, New Zealand, Italy, South Africa and Canada (see links on this page’s sidebar) . Polstitches Designs is now my official distributor in the UK. Please see my Order Chartpacks page for international sources and to order directly from my studio.

Four New Chartpacks

I am just back from the wonderful Polstitches retreat in Cardiff. What a joy to see so many friends and meet so many new stitchers. We all had such a lovely time together. Hats off to Jo Critchley of Polstitches Designs for all her hard work, generosity, and kindness. Thanks too to Marie & Steve for their hospitality and to Spot the dog for my first ever hedgehog adventure!

I’ve posted up the four new chartpacks you see above on my Order Chartpacks Page.

Nora Corbett and I spent time together exploring London where we visited Kensington Palace, The Victoria & Albert Museum and of course Liberty of London. Here we are at the beautiful castle in Cardiff. It’s wonderful to be able to travel with a kindred spirit!

So now it is back to the studio. I have some little Christmas charts to prepare for chartpacks and hopefully I will get those up for sale later next week.

Off to the UK

Sorry to be so silent over the summer. I am off to the UK this week and when I come back I will be posting my newest release “Fairy of the Rainbow” along with a couple of others you may like. As this latest fairy will be premiering at the Polstitches retreat in Cardiff, Wales next weekend, Jo Critchley is now taking pre-orders for “Fairy of the Rainbow” through Polstitches Designs. While I am away, I will also be away from email and will answer any inquiries when I am back in the studio. I will be checking into Facebook when I can.

Fairy of the Clouds

JE263 © Fairy of the Clouds

My newest fairy was inspired by the ethereal colors in the skies as clouds begin to clear after a gentle summer shower. Tinted in the softest golds, pinks, and mauves we are instantly transported to a most magical place. Glistening Mill Hill beads and twinkling Kreinik threads catch the enchanting light that filters through the heavens.

Celebrate Spring!

I love this time of year with all the trees in bloom and the gardens coming to life. In celebration, I have four new chartpacks now available for shipping.

JE205 The Dragon & the Fairy, JE209 The Dancing Butterfly Fairy, and JE264 Girandola, all celebrate the gentle, easy breezes of the season. Each design is embellished with glistening Kreinik metallic threads and accented with the shimmer of Mill Hill beads. JE262 Springtime Delight Library is a fun collection of small motifs just perfect for quick to stitch gifts, cards and tokens of love.

JE261 © Fairy of the Rain

I am so happy to announce my newest design release JE261 © Fairy of the Rain. This is the second in a series of four Aerial Fairies, sister to my last release, JE252 © Fairy of the Wind. She is highlighted with sparkling Kreinik threads in silver, grey and blue and shimmering Mill Hill beads that evoke tiny raindrops and glistening dew. Featured on Polstitches Designs ‘Storminess©’ hand dyed 28 count Lugana, she is a gentle vision of the early spring rain bringing grace and hope to the new season. Fairy of the Rain is now available from all of the online and brick and mortar stores that carry my designs. Enjoy!
