Angel of Cross Stitch Information
Jo Critchley and I have a new Angel of Cross Stitch Facebook Group on Facebook. If you have purchased the chart please join us. You will find advice, photos of WIPs, and lovely camaraderie as stitchers work through the chart.
Here is the floss usage for the Angel of Cross Stitch. There are 447 colors used. Seven of the DMC flosses you may see on the DMC Shopper’s Checklist at the DMC website have merged with other colors, thus reducing the original number of 454. I have not included the newest colors issued recently because they are not available to many of our fellow stitchers around the world.
As you can see, because many colors are used in such small amounts, this is a perfect design for using up your spare bits of floss.
A few of the very first charts I sent out have some minor errors but they are easily fixed. If you ordered early on please check these corrections. Charts shipped after January 13, 2016 are already corrected.

Stupid question Joan…I have the original AoCS as a WIP. It is only 1/4 completed at this time. I’m using the original chart that was in the magazine so it is very faded (due to sheer age and poor paper quality) so I was just interested to know if these colors would correspond with the older chart. I’ve tried to play around with scanning the chart for my working copy to darken the colors but I’m not sure it’s working. I hate the thoughts of starting over with this project but if I need to, so be it. I love this design!

Hi Sue- I’ve adjusted the chart a bit but it is the same full palette of colors. The new chart has color adjustments in the face and hands and a couple of other places and all the symbols are different. I’ve also refined the shape of the hands to look more delicate. Can you snap a quick pic of your work in progress and email it to jelliottdesign@earthlink.net so I may be able to let you know if the new chart will work with your progress.

Hi Nancy- I’ve gone over everything with a fine tooth comb about 10 times. I just need to print the little alphabet so initials can be added. I will start shipping tomorrow and going in the order that orders were received. I will get all orders out by Wednesday.

Dear Patricia-
As I have told everyone, I took a week off at Christmas. I know everyone is impatient but now I am slowed down even more after fracturing my pelvis. I am begging for some more patience and will do my best to get everything sorted ASAP. I can’t do any more than that. I am still in pain from my fall, on medication, and unable to walk on my own. My husband will help me with some orders this week. Yours will be among them.

I have the original magazine version, but am tempted to get this one since you added all the DMC colors and changed some things. I think it would be really cool to have a picture stitched with every color of DMC. Wasn’t there a version of Angel of Cross Stitch that came out after the magazine one? I’m thinking it didn’t have as many of the colors. So would this technically be the 3rd version? How many colors are in the first version? Now I need to go dig this out of my magazine bin in the closet. lol! A facebook group for this sounds like fun. I hope you feel better soon.

My late Mother started the Angel of Night cross stitch before she died recently. Because of all of the craziness, the chart was lost and I cannot find it anywhere. Do you still have it available so that I can complete it. It looks like a face looking out at you and a blue dress with a fan of flowers. That is as far as she got. Thank You so much

Dear Joan and all,
Thank you for the graph, I received it in the mail 2 weeks ago. There has been a medical emergency in our family, our only son and youngest, of 5, child (32) has been diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. Although I intend on completing my Mother’s Angel, it will have to take a back seat to our son’s wellbeing. If anyone is so inclined, prayers are always welcome as there are only 225 cases of this particular sarcoma in any given year and the usual diagnosis is around 16.9 years. My best to all with your patience, but I shall complete and share when done. Thank you.

Hi, just saw this finished and I am in love! Saw a kit for sale on eBay….is this charted with different colors??? It is pretty but not as vibrant as the one I saw finished. I have a complete set of floss ,so would I be safer to just order the chart from you to get the more colorful version???? Thanks much!!😀💞

The kit has only 30 or so colors while the chartpack will use all 400+ colors of DMC. The more colorful and updated version is the chartpack.

The updated Angel of cross stitch is available at http://www.123stitch.com, http://www.polstitchesdesigns.co.uk, http://www.stitchitcental.ca and also on the Order Chartpacks Page on this blog. Because of the large numbers of colors, the chart is done in colored symbols to make it easy to read. The chartpack includes a completed photo, a color key, alphabet and a list of all the colors.

I bought the magazine the cross stitcher where the cross stitch angel comes from, but I’m confused, because the red symbols and the oranges are very similar, will there be any way that I do not have that confusion?
