I am happy to show you the third in my series of historical ladies for Cross Stitch Collection. Coming in the next issue # 223 is the Edwardian Lady. With grace and elegance she is dressed in a delicate spring tea dress just perfect for a stroll in the garden and gathering peonies for the afternoon table. I love this period in fashion history and thoroughly enjoyed creating this special design for you. Pretty beads and some metallic threads add to the style and delicacy of her dress. She is stitched on Polstitches wonderful ‘serenade’ 28 count Jobelan to add to the serenely soft mood of the design. See the Floss and Embellishment pages for more information.

Here she is the first in a series of four historic ladies starting in the next issue, # 219, of Cross Stitch Collection. In rich royal colors and embellished with Mill Hill pearl seed beads and golden Kreinik  threads we catch a glimpse of this lovely Medieval Lady as she strolls through the castle garden holding a fresh cut white rose. I’ve chosen  28 count ‘avalon’ Jobelan from Polstitches to set a mood of beauty shrouded in the mist of times long ago.

I am so pleased that Polstitches will be showing my new stitcheries at Harrogate this weekend. Two of the latest include Fairy Song and Make A Wish. I love their ‘girlie’ appeal and they would be the perfect quick stitch gift for your own little princesses. The Great Northern Quilt Show and The Great Northern Needlework Show run simultaneously at the Great Yorkshire Fairgrounds August 31st- September 2nd. All of my stitchery designs are now available exclusively from Polstitches Designs. I hope all of you nearby in the UK will get a chance to drop in and see all the goodies from both Jo at Polstitches and Julia at Cross Patch.

Dragonfly Fairy

One of my favorite delights of summer is seeing the dragonflies come out along the brook in the early evening here in Vermont. There are so many and in so many amazing colors. In the most wonderful jewel tones, their gossamer wings flutter and swirl all about in a joyful dance to close the day. My Dragonfly Fairy in the latest issue of Cross Stitch Collection (Issue 214) captures the magical mood. Stitched on 28 count ‘serenade’ Jobelan from Polstitches Designs she is sparkling with Mill Hill beads and wonderful Kreinik threads. Supply lists are now upon the Project Floss & Embellishments page for both the Dragonfly and the Sweet Pea Fairy.

Coming this week in issue 191 of The World of Cross Stitching, a cheerful garden of delightful pixies ready to start helping with all the new plantings. You all know how much I love gardening so when Ruth commissioned this design for WOCS I was more than happy to accommodate :-) Who could ask for a more ideal combination to work on, gardens and pixies, two of my favorite things!

Cinderella

I love the imaginary world of Fairy Tales and still have my well worn childhood books to treasure and bring inspiration to my designs. I am so happy to introduce a new series of Fairy Tale Princesses I’ve designed for Cross Stitch Gold magazine. Cinderella is the first of three and you will find her in issue #90. She’s  filled with sparkling beads and shimmering metallic threads. For extra depth she is stitched on Polstitches 28 count hand dyed Fairy Dreams Jobelan. You can test out different fabric choices by going to Polstitches’ fabric viewer where you will find all of my fairies and goddesses ready to try out on Jo’s beautiful hand dyed fabrics. Also coming in future issues of Cross Stitch Gold are Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel. What fun!

Mystical Mermaid Preview

Coming in Cross Stitch Collection’s issue #200 due out in August…my Mystical Mermaid. I’ve had so many request for more mermaids it was a joy to create this graceful siren for Collection’s anniversary issue. I’ll be posting a supply list as soon as my computer returns home (hopefully tomorrow). She is stitched on Polstitches 28 count Jobelan  called ‘The Deep’. Once again it is a perfect match. Lots and lots of beautiful Kreinik threads and Mill Hill beads add to the shimmering image. Enjoy!

Rose Fairy Preview

My Rose Fairy is now in preview in the current issue (195) of Cross Stitch Collection. I chose to use the delicate flowers of the wild rose for this design. Varieties of these softly blushing blossoms grow freely by the sea as well as in the hills to the north here in the Eastern US. As always, she has lots of Mill Hill beads and sparkling Kreinik metallics to add a magical touch. She is stitched on Polstitches 28HPI ‘Fairy Dreams’ Jobelan, which I think suits her just perfectly! Look for the chart next month in issue 196. I’ll be posting the supply list tomorrow.
